All the activities that volunteers will carry out, will let them be everyday in contact with a new environment not known before; the University of Padova with more than 600 incoming Erasmus students, international students and volunteers will help them mature an European awareness and intercultural competences. Furthermore they will be able to attend an Italian Language Course inside the University, together with Erasmus students, attend university courses during their free time and deepen their knowledge of Italian and, eventually, of other languages. Proposed activities for EVS volunteers: working with students with disabilities will offer volunteers the opportunity to increase their attention and sensibility to important issues like disability and they'll have the possibility to know the difficulties that a person with disability has in everyday life and particularly when studying at University. Volunteers will be in contact with students, teaching and administrative staff and, of course, with students with different type of impairments. This will help them improving the capacity of relationship in the respect of single identities. Volunteers will work alone helping single students with disabilities and also with other volunteers in specific projects; they will have then the opportunity to compare each other experiences and enhance their ability to work in team. The presence of other volunteers at the Disability Support promotes a faster volunteer's integration in the local community. Finally volunteers will have the opportunity to know Italian University system from educational and administrative point of view. Volunteers will be engaged from Monday to Friday for 30 hours a week accompanying and helping students with disabilities during all the academic year. The assistances will be communicated every week according to the requests and needs of students with disabilities. At their arrival they will attend a series of formative meetings and they will start a course of Italian organized by the Linguistic Centre of the University. Gradually volunteers will take part to all the activities of the Disability Support. 11 OCTOBER 2008 we are currently collect candidatures for next deadline (1 november) for 3 different projects 2005-it-120. 2007-it-27 and 2007-it-40, all in Padova. The volunteer should start in febbruary for 6,7 months. ______________________________ 9 OCTOBER 2008 we are contacting you concerning your volunteers interested in come in Italy through EVS. For November's deadline we are running three projects that would forecast a 6 months activity starting from February-March:. 1) 2 Volunteers for 6 months starting between March and April 2009 The project 2008-IT-61 "IL TETTO CASAL FATTORIA" will be in a house family set in a farm near Rome (quite isolated during the overnight) were are hosted up to 6 orphan and abandoned children between 8 and 16 years of age of both sexes. Motivation a basic knowledge of the Italian language and a basic previous experience with children are required.
The project "Galermo...Europa!!" 2006-IT-86 is carried out by the association Giovaninsieme set in the outskirt of Catania (Sicily). Sometimes hard according to the isolation of the place, a little knowledge of Italian language is required.
Il Tetto 2006-IT-25 is an abandoned children live-in community set in Rome. 4) 2 Volunteers for 9 months starting from February 2009 The project Etna Comics 2006-IT-24 is set in a little Sicilian town, Viagrande, lying over Etna volcan and it aims at the promotion of comics. The Montalbano Foundation, manage a comics library and lot of figurative art courses for youngsters and children of the local community. The project started after a very young cartoonist death, with the decision of their parents to continue on with the promotion of this figurative art. Nice to learn biblio-technics...sometimes discouraging according to its isolation as the Foundation is composed only by the parents of a young cartoonist death some years ago.
