06 FEBRUARY 2009 We are happy to invite you to the international youth forum "Youth actions - step by step to the future" which would take place in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia from 20th till 26th of April, 2009.
The forum is supported by the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe and Nizhny Novgorod regional Government.
The forum aims:
1. To show capacities and level of development of youth organizations working in Russia and other EECA countries in the field of workcamps, youth exchanges, long-term volunteers, educational projects etc. The accent will be done on organizations working in rural areas and with disadvantaged groups.
2. To adopt the experience of the most successful EU organizations working in the youth field (especially with disadvantaged groups) to EECA realities.
3. To discuss reasons of weak cooperation between EU youth organizations and EECA youth organizations and to find out decisions for strengthening this cooperation.

FINANCIAL CONDITIONS
- Travel reimbursement: 75% of travel costs (up to the defined maximum reimbursement for each country, please consult SFERA about this issue);
- Participation fees: participants from EU countries - 60 EUR, participants from non-EU countries - 30 EUR.

16 OCTOBER 2008 All suggested projects are realizing on the base of SFERA interregional youth public movement of support of volunteer initiatives. SFERA works on promotion and development of volunteering and charity with participation of young people on the territory of Russia. The headquarter of SFERA is situated in Nizhniy Novgorod, and the organization has branches in 10 other Russian regions. Today's EVS vacancies are opened in Nizhniy Novgorod city and region, on the land with ancient culture and traditions, where you can find more than 100 institutes and colleges, with very well developed business sector and,.. as everywhere in Russia, with a big number of social problems, like poverty, disability, low level of social service etc. So we have a lot of people who can help and who need help. Project conditions
EVS volunteers usually live in flats with other volunteers, in families or in the hostel of the faculty of foreign students of State University. Actually they share domestic facilities with 2-3 other vols or family members. Nizhniy Novgorod is a very big city, so the way from home to the city center can take 1-1,5 hours (like in any big city), but we do our best to provide volunteers with accommodation not far from their working places. Volunteers are provided with necessary kitchen equipment and bed-linen.
In Youth in Action program volunteers have 90 euro of the pocket money a month and SFERA provides them with 100 euro for food monthly as well. The middle salary in Nizhniy Novgorod is 200 euro, so that money is absolutely enough to survive Volunteers local travel costs (necessary for the project) compensate by SFERA as well.
SFERA actually organizes Russian linguistic courses for volunteers with the professional teacher on the base of the Faculty of International relation of Nizhniy Novgorod State University twice in a week during the whole project.
The working day of the volunteer is 6 hours a day 5 days a week. We also provide volunteers with 3-weeks vacation during the project. Optionally SFERA consults volunteers about opportunities to travel in Russia during holidays and suggests special travel projects for volunteer's group integration and discovering of Russian treasures.
Durations of all projects are 6 months!

"Incoming manager"
The project aims development of workcamps program among Russian NGOs. The tasks of the volunteer includes researching of information (in mass-media, internet etc.) about organizations can be interested in organizing workcamp, preparing of technical conditions for the camp (check on accommodation, food, work etc readiness), making infosheets for foreign volunteers, providing foreign volunteers with all necessary information about camp, monitoring of the camps in the process of their going etc. The volunteer participates in campleaders training and lead 1-2 workcamps during the project. At the end of the season the volunteer work on the preparation of final seminar for hosting projects and evaluation of the season.

"Hematological hospital"
The project realizes on the base of the children hematology hospital in cooperation with children creative center of Nizhniy Novgorod and foundation "Hematology and health". The volunteers tasks are: organizing of leisure time of children (games, hand craft and art studios, common events like watching cartoon etc.), individual supervising in making school homeworks, working on hospital decoration. The foundation "Hematology and health" regularly organizes events on collecting blood and they will ask the volunteer to give administrative help in such events as well.

"Botanical garden"
The project will take place in Nizhniy Novgorod State University Botanical garden, founded in 1934. Exposition part, administrative and household building are include in territory of the botanical gardens. The general aim of the activity is work in the botanical garden in Nizhniy Novgorod.Working methods which the volunteer will use in the project are: cleaning and putting in order territory of botanical gardens and greenhouse, namely: clearing away paths, harvesting dry branches, moving off dry up saplings;
Volunteer will also realize work, concerned with preparation and cultivation of ground and soil for planting seeds and young plants; assist employee botanical gardens and greenhouse to plant seeds and young plants; take care of plants in the botanical garden: weeding, watering, fertilization, securing of normal conditions for plants. Besides, volunteer will do activities, directed to development of collection plants: creation expositions, care of plants, botanical exchange with the other botanical gardens; assist employee botanical gardens and greenhouse to organize the practical trainings for students and candidates of Nizhniy Novgorod; assistance in organization excursions for visitors, realization of scientific and cultural measures, international conferences and symposiums.

"Invatur"
The project realizes on the base of the invalid organization "Invatur" in Nizhniy Novgorod. The organization's aims are: innovation methods of rehabilitation social, propagation of an active way of life, integration of invalids into a society, protection and upholding of the rights of the people having physical inability. The organization "Invatur" organizes lessons of tolerance for children in schools, because the problem of formation of norms of tolerant behavior is rather actual in Nizhniy Novgorod region.
The general aim of the project is to work above a problem of development of tolerant attitudes at school, to teach children to resist to intolerance, to form values of tolerance at lessons. The accent should be made for work as youth which yet has no the precise settled valuable installations.
The volunteer's tasks are: preparation of lessons of tolerance; helping in organizing activities in the lessons of tolerance; to be an assistant in the lessons of tolerance; making some comparisons between tolerance in Russia and in other countries; promotion for children his/her culture, give explanations and good examples of different children's and youth's behavior in other countries.

"Piano"
The project is realized on the basis of the Nizhniy Novgorod theatre for children with hearing difficulties "Piano".
Work as an assistant of theatre pedagogues during workshops and master classes every day. There are 2 main kinds of activities in the theatre - pantomimic performances and painting by computers to express feelings and emotions. It will be also necessary to help in making decorations and theatre dress for children.
Individual supervision of 1-2 children - making home exercises together, walks, playing games etc.
The volunteers will be asked to organize their own workshops for children depending on their skills and talents.
During conferences, seminars, meetings with parents making by Piano volunteers will work as a support administrative staff, as well as during performances.

"Rehabilitation Center"
The project is realized on the base of Rehabilitation Center in Nizhniy Novgorod. Children with cerebral palsy and autism visit the centre every day. They study there and have special medical procedures.
The general aim of the activity of the volunteer is social rehabilitation and social inclusion of disabled children at the Rehabilitation Centre. The project targeted on individual supervising of young disabled by EVS volunteers and training of basic social skills as well as mental development activities in this process. The second line of volunteer's activity is organizing of group meetings and making workshops for disabled children depending on skills and interests of volunteers (it can be musical, art of handcraft workshops).

"Cultures club"
The project will take place in the capital of Republic of Karelia Petrozavodsk. That is a city with 300.000 inhabitants. Centre "Initiative" is a non-profit organization, founded in 2003. The main aim of the volunteers is to develop the activities of Center's "Culture club" - to work with preschoolers, schoolchildren, students of Petrozavodsks schools (children from eight till seventeen years old), to develop the interest to different cultures and countries, promote the tolerance between children. The volunteers will organize the seminars about tolerance, presentations of their countries (we expect to have 6 volunteers from 6 different European countries and present 6 countries in every school). Volunteers could help children to understand the importance of treating all people with dignity, to model tolerance and compassion in children words and behavior, to give the opportunity for young people to learn and incorporate into their values the true strength of different countries and uphold the respect and dignity to all people. Also volunteers expect to hold the Cultures club - meetings in our Centre for people, who wish to learn and improve languages and to get new information about the different countries, cultures and nations.

"Social theatre"
The project will take place in the capital of Republic of Karelia Petrozavodsk. That is a city with 300.000 inhabitants. Centre "Initiative" is a non-profit organization, founded in 2003. The main aim of the volunteer is organizing of a theatre for preschoolers, schoolchildren, students of Petrozavodsk schools (children from eight till seventeen years old).
The volunteers should hold all consisting work - acting, costume design, scenic art, theatre arts management, lighting, electrics, sound and scenic construction, preparing for events and presentations of the "Social theatre" in Petrozavodsk and different towns of Republic of Karelia, organizing performances for orphans and disabled persons.
The volunteers themselves should have an artistic and organizing talent and have some experience in that sphere, to be open-minded in working with children and to love them, to care about family atmosphere in which all students, encourage and develop their individual talents.
